I wasn't aware that Yepes played a Matsuoka. I've only seen him play two guitars -- a Ramirez (the original "modern" 10-string, which he and Jose Ramirez III designed), and by the mid-seventies, a Bernabe, which to my knowledge was the guitar he used for the rest of his life.

But Yepes had a huge following in Japan, and it wouldn't surprise me a bit if he developed a relationship with Matsuoka, and perhaps played one occasionally when in Japan and other locales in that part of the world.

I'll ask David if he's heard of this. He's the only person I know, besides yourself, who seems to know much of anything about their 10-strings.
